Mark Herras ‘very proud’ of 3-month-old daughter

MANILA, Philippines – Actor Mark Herras revealed in an interview with talk show Startalk on Sunday, February 23, that he is the father of a 3-month-old baby girl, Ada.

Herras said that as an actor, one would think about how such news could impact one’s life and career, but he claimed he is tired of denying.

“Kaya ako naging matapang kasi sawang-sawa na akong mag-deny eh. I’m very proud of Ada dahil siya po ang aking first baby girl,” said an emotional Herras who publicly revealed the news for the first time. (I am being brave because I am tired of denying. I am very proud of Ada because she is my first baby girl.)

“Kaya ako umaamin sa harap ng maraming tao, sa buong mundo, umaamin ako dahil sobrang mahal kita,” he said, sending the message to his daughter. (I am revealing this in front of many people, to the world, because I love you so much.)

Without going into detail about the identity of his child’s mother, 27-year-old Herras revealed that the mother of his child is 5 years his senior.

Later on, he added, “Marami akong naging kasalanan, pero ito lang masasabi ko, hindi ho kasalanan si Ada,” said Herras. (I have committed many wrongdoings, but this, I can say, Ada is not a mistake.)

Herras was previously in a relationship with actress Ynna Asistio for 5 years. The two broke-up mid 2013 for reasons they did not disclose to the public.

‘Bad boy’ no more

Herras said he and the mother of his child have decided talks about their relationship can wait. What they are focused on now, said Herras, is the future of their daughter. He said he has promised to support his child, whether in terms of “money, love, or taking care of her when she’s sick.”

“Actually po sa ngayon, ang napag-usapan po namin kailangan naming magtulungan para sa baby, para suportahan ‘yung bata para mapalaki nang maayos. Lahat ng pinag-uusapan namin is tungkol sa baby.” (Actually, at the present, what we talked about is the need to work together for the baby, to support her so we can raise her properly. The actor, who claimed fame after winning reality TV show Starstruck, said he is gearing towards moving away from his “bad boy and playboy” image. He will be more serious about his career, he said.
