Jose Manalo's daughter hospitalized after suicide attempt
MANILA, Philippines – Comedian Jose Manalo’s 17-year-old daughter attempted to commit suicide, her legal counsel Dennis Pangan confirmed to DZMM.
According to Pangan, Manalo’s daughter was found unconscious in their condominium in Greenhills around 10 pm on Wednesday, March 12. She was said to have taken various drugs.
A suicide note pointed to family problems as the reason for the attempted suicide, said Pangan. In the note, Manalo’s daughter, noted how her father broke his promise of paying for her tuition fee.
The young girl also aired her grievance regarding Manalo’s failure to visit and provide support for their family. According to Pangan, the young girl felt like her father did not treat her like his child.
Manalo’s daughter has reportedly gained consciousness and is confined at the hospital.
In the past two years, Jose Manalo, noon time show Eat Bulaga, faced two lawsuits, one filed by his estranged wife Annalyn Manalo in early 2012, the other, filed by his 17-year-old daughter in December 2013, both for allegedly violating RA 9262, or the Anti-Violence against Women and their children Act of 2004.
According to Pep.ph, Annalyn accused Jose of emotional and verbal abuse. Jose has 5 children with Annalyn and two other children from a previous marriage. Annalyn told Pep.ph that Jose left all 7 children in her care.
Months after, Jose's daughter, according to Inquirer, sued him for allegedly failng to fulfill his promise of shouldering her education, which caused her to drop out of school.
Jose Manalo is a mainstay in GMA 7 noon time show Eat Bulaga. The comedian has also starred in film such as the Enteng Kabisote franchise, Scaregiver, and MMFF 2013 entry My Little Bossings. – Rappler.com
