Liza Diño happy with daughter and Aiza Seguerra’s relationship

MANILA, Philippines – Over a month after their engagement, thespian Liza Diño and actress-singer Aiza Seguerra have started making arrangements for their upcoming wedding in the US, reported Pep.ph.

One of those preparations, Diño revealed, is helping her 6-year-old daughter adjust to their new set-up. With the couple living under one roof for nearly a year now, Diño said her daughter had been wondering why Seguerra was always around.

“Bakit lagi siya nandito?” (Why is she always here?) was one of her daughter’s frequenty asked questions. Diño believes such questions about their “dynamics as a family” are what she needs to address.

“Hindi ko puwedeng biglaan ang anak ko. So, silang dalawa ang maraming adjustments.” (It can’t be a sudden change for my daughter. So, it’s the two of them who have a lot of adjustments.)

But Diño said she “can’t be any happier” with her child and Seguerra’s relationship. She revealed that her daughter now looks at Seguerra as a parental figure, telling people that Seguerra is to become her step-parent. Seguerra, whom the 6-year-old calls Bubba, is the child’s “3rd most favorite person,” next to her parents, said Diño.

According to Diño, Seguerra asked for the child’s approval before the surprise wedding proposal in February. Similarly, Diño revealed that her family were supportive regarding her plans of getting married.

In an interview with Inquirer, the couple revealed that both their families have grown closer during their relationship. 

“Liza makes it a point to bring our families closer. Instead of just the two of us going out, she would invite my mom, dad and brother along,” said Seguerra. Her family, she said, saw how happy she was with Diño.

The couple’s relationship had been a publicized one, with Seguerra being a former child star turned singer and actress and Diño being a former beauty queen and thespian. But Diño told Pep.ph that she had always been open about their relationship.

“You don’t want the people to judge you,” she said, thinking there were “repercussions” that came with their relationship. But Diño was quick to add that when a person is in love, “you’re so happy and you just wanna tell the world about it.”

“Ngayon na positive yung ibinigay na reaksiyon ng mga tao, all the more na nae-empower kami. Alam mo, pag talagang totoo ka lang sa sarili mo, lahat talaga will be happy for you,” she said. (Now that we have gotten positive reaction from people, we were more empowered. If you’re true to yourself, everyone will really be happy for you.)

The couple’s romance began over a decade ago, when they became a couple during their teenage years. The two rekindled their romance in January 2013, but it wasn’t until September of the same year when they publicly came forward with their relationship.

On February 7, Seguerra proposed to Diño while the actress was performing in a stage play in UP Diliman. It was later on revealed that the play itself was part of the proposal.

In the same Pep.ph interview, Diño revealed that she is currently in the proccess of fixing her US citizenship. Once she has become an American citizen, the two can get married legally in the US, she said.
