MANILA, Philippines  YouTube viral tandem  and real-life couple Jam Sebastian and Paolinne Michelle Liggayu, better known as Jamich, recently opened up about Sebastian’s ongoing battle with stage 4 lung cancer.

In an interview on Startalk on Sunday, March 30, the couple revealed that future marriage plans are keeping them positive throughout the ordeal. If anything, they said the circumstances have made their relationship stronger.

Although the couple has made no formal plans of tying the knot, Liggayu told her boyfriend of almost 6 years to get better because everyone is excited to see them get married.

Pangarap ko po ‘yun,” said Sebastian through tears. (It’s my dream)

“Every time may pain akong nararamdaman lagi kong iniisip yung happy thoughts na nakikita ko siya sa aisle na naglalakad. Navi-visualize ko yung may mga anak na kami, nasa beach kami,” he said. (Everytime I feel pain I always think of happy thoughts, of seeing her walk down the aisle. I visualize us with our kids on the beach.)

Sebastian added that thoughts of proposing to his longtime girlfriend excite him and motivate him to get better. “Sana magsabi ka ng ‘yes,’” he teased Liggayu. (I hope you say yes.)

Liggayu told Startalk that Sebastian was diagnosed with lung cancer on her 23rd birthday on March 17, which she described as her “worst birthday ever.” Since then, she said the two of them have grown even closer and stronger.

Hospital hopping

The YouTube tandem, who earned a following for their viral videos about love and relationships, first announced the news on social media.

After a year of what Sebastian described on Instagram as “hospital hopping” due to cough, shortness of breath, and back and neck pain, what was first thought as asthma, turned out to be a lump in his lungs, soon diagnosed as lung cancer.

In another Instagram post, Sebastian thanked his brother Yexel Sebastian for shouldering his medical expenses. Sebastian said he needs P20,000 daily for his treatment, which will last 4 months.

He said his brother, an avid toy collector, was willing to sell his extensive toy collection if needed.

Jamich is best known for creating and starring in romantic short films such as By Chance, “Text” Story of Best Friends, and 5 Years from Now, among others. Their YouTube channel JamichTV has gathered over 440,000 subscribers and their videos have gotten almost 74 million total views.

The couple has also guested in talk shows such as Gandang Gabi Vice and Kris TV. – Rappler.com
