Claudine Barretto: ‘Stop trying to set me up’

MANILA, Philippines – What’s happening to Claudine Barretto? A series of tweets from the actress’ Twitter account had netizens guessing about what was happening to star, who is also a mom of two. 

The embattled actress tweeted on Thursday, April 10 that she and her two kids-Sabina, 9 years old, and Santino, 7 years old were not safe. She also mentioned that she was being ‘set up.’

Another tweet was addressed to a Mr Santiago, possibly estranged husband actor Raymart Santiago.

This comes just a few days after Claudine’s older sister Gretchen Barretto said that she would no longer talk about their family troubles, according to Pep.ph. 

“I really don’t want to talk about it, I hope you respect me. I said it many times and if you wanna talk about it just to get ratings, I’m not gonna give it to you,” she told media at an event launching her daughter Dominique Cojuangco as the new Bench whitening lotion endorser last April 4.

The Barrettos are famed for making headlines due to family drama.

In April 2013, Barretto sisters Claudine, Marjorie and Gretchen made headlines when their mother Inday Barretto released an open letter, criticizing Gretchen and calling her a liar.

Claudine charged estranged husband Raymart Santiago with domestic abuse in August 2013.

Earlier in January, Claudine’s legal counsel Ferdinand Topacio revealed that his client and Inday Barretto were planning to pursue a case against Gretchen, who had previously revealed details about Claudine’s alleged mental illness and drug problems.

Also in January, Gretchen talked about the ‘pain and shame’ of being a Barretto in a Buzz ng Bayan interview, but said that she didn’t hate her sister Claudine– just her actions, particularly the cases against her that were filed. – Rappler.com
