MANILA, Philippines – Actress Claudine Barretto has spoken out regarding the robbery charges filed against Claudine before the Marikina Regional Trial Court by her former helpers.
In a statement given to Pep.ph, through her lawyer Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, Claudine said that she saw that estranged husband Raymart Santiago and sister Gretchen Barretto played a role in her legal troubles.
“The robbery case filed against me before the Regional Trial Court in Marikina is but the latest in a long line of harassment cases made upon the instigation of my estranged husband, Mr. Raymart Santiago, and my sister Ms. Gretchen Barretto, who have provided material and legal support to my former house help against whom I have filed criminal cases after they tried to steal things from our house upon the behest of other parties, as per their own admissions as recorded on video.”
The former ABS-CBN star believes that members of her family who have an “axe to grind” against her are doing this because of the cases she filed against them to protect her and her two kids Sabina and Santino.
Claudine previously filed complaints of qualified theft against the two helpers, Jenifer Murillo and Malou Becher. They then filed countercharges against Claudine, saying that their phones and documents were taken by the actress. They also denied stealing from her.
According to a previous report by Pep.ph, the Marikina RTC found probable cause in the case filed by Claudine’s former helpers for robbery (but not grave coercion), and have also dismissed the qualified theft charges filed by Claudine.
Atty. Rico Quicho, legal counsel for the two helpers, said that it was Raymart who testified that the two did not take the items from Claudine as he was the one who took these from their home in Quezon City.
