MANILA, Philippines – Another couple is walking down the aisle soon. 

Jam Sebastian and Paolinne Michelle Liggayu, better known as Jamich, are officially engaged after a proposal at the Philippine International Convention Center on May 11.

It was Liggayu who proposed. And Sebastian readily said yes.

In the video of the proposal, Sebastian is seen in tears as he related how Liggayu has done so much for him after he was diagnosed with cancer.

“Walang ginawa ang girlfriend ko kung hindi alagaan ako 24/7, lagi siyang nasa tabi ko. Sabi ko kung gumaling ako, ako naman ang mag-aalaga sa kanya habang buhay.” (My girlfriend took care of me 24/7. She’s always there by my side. I told myself that when I get well, it will be my turn to take care of her for the rest of our lives).

In March, Sebastian confirmed he was suffering from stage 4 lung cancer. Prior to the engagement,  the two already announced they were thinking of getting married. (READ: Jamich: ‘Happy thoughts’ of marriage help in cancer battle)

“Pangarap ko po ‘yun,” said Sebastian. (It’s my dream)

“Every time may pain akong nararamdaman lagi kong iniisip yung happy thoughts na nakikita ko siya sa aisle na naglalakad. Navi-visualize ko yung may mga anak na kami, nasa beach kami,” he said. (Everytime I feel pain I always think of happy thoughts, of seeing her walk down the aisle. I visualize us with our kids on the beach.)
