In this final round of competition held at the Newport Performing Arts Theater at Resorts World, the final 4 embarked on the last leg of their The Voice journey – singing with a guest artist.

Singing with superstars

This was the final leg of competition, which included 3 challenges: the Upbeat and Power Ballad challenges, as well as the most recent – singing with a celebrity guest performer. The first two challenges were aired on Saturday, July 26.

The finale show began with a rousing group number featuring previous alumni of The Voice as well as the judges Sarah Geronimo, Bamboo, and Lea Salonga, with their top 4. The show then moved swiftly into the performances with esteemed performers.

Darren Espanto sang “You are My Song” with Martin Nievera, which had coach Sarah Geronimo visibily moved by his performance.

Martin reminded Darren to sing from the heart, and coach Sarah thanked Darren for being a great performer and pupil.

Darlene Vibares sang “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” with Asia’s Nightingale, Lani Misalucha. “Ipinakita mo ngayon na deserving na deserving ka na maging Grand Champion ng The Voice Kids,” said Lea.

Juan Karlos Labajo sang the classic “Eto Na Naman” onstage with Mr. Pure Energy, Gary Valenciano, as coach Bamboo looked proudly on, standing up to rock out during the performance.

“Go for it, JK,” Gary told Juan Karlos.

“Thank you for listening to me and thank you for being such a good pupil, student,” said Bamboo, who listed reasons why JK should win, saying that JK has the unique ability to find the heart of a song.

Winning performance

Decked out in jeans, a snappy jacket, and boots, Lyca Gairanod sang “Basang-Basa sa Ulan” with iconic group Aegis, as her family tearfully cheered her on. This performance also drew a standing ovation from Bamboo.

Coach Sarah Geronimo told Lyca that she performed as if she were singing at her own concert – and that no matter what, she was grand champion in the hearts of her fans.

After the final round of voting, the winner was revealed, as fans waited with bated breath and expressed their thoughts online.

The young singer, a 9-year-old from Cavite, won a recording contract with MCA Universal, a P1 million cash prize, a house and lot from Camella Homes, a musical instrument package, a home appliance package, among many other prizes.
