David Blaine shows off his magic to TV viewers
Comelec Commissioner Sixto Brillantes also had fun interacting with Blaine during his guesting

MANILA, Philippines -Magician David Blaine is in town and during an appearance on Mornings @ANC, he showed audiences a short snippet from his arsenal of tricks.

Blaine asked ANC anchor Paolo Abrera to check the pocket of his jeans for the cards he initially showed, and Paolo was surprised when he felt it.

“How did it get there?” Abrera asked, as co-anchors Ginger Conejero and Pinky Webb watched.

Commission on Elections chairman Sixto Brillantes, who was also a guest on the show, also participated. Blaine showed him a deck of cards, and asked the Comelec chair to pick one card, a seven of spades.

Later, when the Chairman Brillantes signed the card, all of them were surprised when the pen he signed the card with read “Seven of Spades.”

Blaine later sought the assistance of the Comelec chair and the hosts for another trick, when he inserted the seven of spades card with the deck of cards. He then asked the hosts what cards they wanted to remain aside from the seven of spades. They said hearts. and he started pressing the deck of cards, until it looked like there were only a few left on his hand.

Blaine once again asked Abrera about the card he had in mind, a six of diamonds, which Blaine showed to him, with the whole deck of cards vanishing from his hands.

The hosts later asked Chairman Brillantes what he thought of Blaine’s magic, and the chairman said: “He can solve the traffic problem. Make it disappear.”

Blaine, who arrived Wednesday, will be performing at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday, September 12, in a show dubbed Real or Magic?

“It’s raw and real, and I wear a t-shirt and I have nothing to hide. There’s nothing behind me, there’s no wires , no props… what you see is what you get,” he said.

Later, Blaine also made an appearance on Aquino & Abunda tonight, entertaining Kris Aquino and viewers with a similar sampling of his tricks.

“Magic is an art, one that has nothing to hide,” he said on the show.

He said that he is fascinated by what people think is impossible.

“The fascination is trying to figure how to do things that seem like magic… I want to find out how to do things that appear to be impossible but can actually be done, whether it’s simple with cards, or holding your breath,” Blaine said.
