MANILA, Philippines – Actor-director Eric Quizon said on Saturday, June 23, his father’s vitals are improving, also perhaps because his siblings Manny Boy and Mariquita have arrived from overseas to be by their father’s side.
“Naramdaman niya na dumating mga kapatid ko, siguro nabuhayan siyang muli (He felt that my siblings were there and perhaps felt better),” said Quizon in a 3 pm press conference in Makati Medical Center where comedy king Dolphy is confined.
He added that the Quizon family is happy with the developments in his father’s condition in the last 48 hours.
Last Wednesday, June 20, Dolphy’s condition became very critical. He developed a condition called “toxic metabolic encepalopathy” when his kidneys became too weak to filter medication administered to him. “They go to other organs of his body instead,” the younger Quizon said then, adding that his father had to have blood transfusion.
“We believe this is happening because of your prayers,” said a more relaxed Quizon.
At 8:30 am Saturday, Dolphy started undergoing dialysis anew. He is more responsive, and still taking numerous medications.
Quizon disclosed that, aside from COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and pneumonia, his father also has diabetes.
“Everything is monitored, including his food,” said Quizon.
He doesn’t deny that his father can be okay one second and not okay the next.
“Whatever he’s going through, we’re also going through,” Quizon said of their family. – Rappler.com
