'I really feel for Kris and what's she's going through,' says Derek

MANILA, Philippines  Actor Derek Ramsay defended good friend Kris Aquino amid the attacks against the TV host-actress and her brother President Benigno Aquino III, after his failure to attend the arrival honors for the slain PNP SAF soldiers.

“I really feel for Kris and what’s she’s going through. There are just some people who make a comment and if you comment back masama ka (you’re bad). Freedom of speech… if you say something, I can also say my opinion. But sometimes people take it too far and that’s not an opinion anymore,” Derek said during the press conference for his new show Mac and Chiz, Tuesday, February 3.

“You know Kris, she is very close to her family. And sending messages that her brother should die and all this stuff, that’s not an opinion. It’s personal, very hurtful. Why should you say something like that?”

Sana tumigil na ang mga bashers (I hope the bashers stop) saying these hurtful stuff against her, like it was her fault,” he added.

John “Sweet” Lapus, another close friend of Kris, said that while he is saddened over the death of the soldiers, he knows that Kris’ family is very kind.

“She texted me the other day na nag-thank you siya. Among nga sa mga kaibigan niyang celebrities, ako daw yung walang pinopost on social media (She said that among her celebrity friends, I was one of those that did not post anything on social media)… who am I to judge?

Ako naman personally I have seen the innate goodness in the Aquino family including our President PNoy. Nakita ko na mabuti silang tao. Parang feeling ko nagkaroon lang ng miscommunication,” Sweet said.

(I saw that they are good people. I just feel there was a miscommunication.)

On Sunday, February 1, Kris answered some of the comments against her brother and family. She also clarified that she spoke to Ogie Alcasid and wife Regine Velasquez, after a misunderstanding on the issue.

She also said that for as long as people continue to attack her brother, she will defend him.  Rappler.com
