Justin Bieber determined to ‘stay humble’

SYDNEY, Australia – Teen heartthrob singer Justin Bieber admits it is not easy staying grounded amid huge wealth and adoration from screaming fans, but says he is determined to remain humble.

The 18-year-old Canadian, in Australia on a tightly-controlled promotional tour where he has been mobbed by fans, shot to fame in 2009 after posting several homemade music videos on YouTube and has now sold 15 million albums.

Asked what had been the best piece of advice he had received, Bieber, who has more than 25 million followers on Twitter, said in an interview with Australia’s Seven Network late Tuesday, July 17, that it was to stay true to who he was.

“I’d probably say, you know, just to stay humble and keep your family close, keep the people that were there at the beginning there, because those are the people who cared and care enough to stay with you,” Bieber said.

“The relationship with my family, always I make sure to keep that first. Last time I was here (in Australia) my grandparents were here with me.”

The singer said he would always heed advice from his family.

“You need to pull up your pants Justin, that’s what my grandparents say all the time,” he said.

“Like my mum, it’s always something. They are always super proud of me no matter what… That’s what keeps me humble and I do this for them.” – Agence France-Presse
