MANILA, Philippines – As in all relationships, Sarah Geronimo and Matteo Guidicelli have their ups and downs as a couple. Nothing’s perfect, but they’re working through it.

In an interview with reporters during her contract signing as the new JAG Jeans endorser Tuesday, April 14, Sarah opened up about her current man.  (IN PHOTOS: Sarah Geronimo and Matteo Guidicelli at Matteo’s birthday party)

“Siyempre, sa lahat naman po ng relationship, gusto natin na maging smooth yung takbo yung flow ng relationship—mag-overflow yung understanding, pagmamahalan, and acceptance sa bawat isa sa mga mahal mo sa buhay.

(Of course in all relationships, we want the relationship to go smoothly – for understanding, love and acceptance to overflow in each of our loved ones.) 

“Hindi ka magiging masaya completely kapag ikaw lang and yung taong ‘yon.

(You won’t be completely happy if it’s just the two of you.)

“Ako, bilang tao, ang importante is the people around me are happy for me also, and sa side din niya,” Sarah said.

(As a person, it is important that the people around me are happy, as well as those on his side.)

During his birthday, Matteo said that he wished for “happiness and acceptance,” according to a report from The Buzz. Although he did not reveal much, Sarah’s parents Delfin and Divine Geronimo are known to be strict regarding their daughter’s love life.

Sarah said she is grateful to Matteo’s family for accepting her.

She admits that she is still a bit uncomfortable with the attention their relationship attracts from people. Most recently, photos of her and Matteo on a date at the Rockwell mall surfaced online.

“At first uncomfortable po tayo and uneasy na laging nakukunan pero kasi nasa public [eye] ka, kaya hindi mo maiiwasan. Kaya naiintindihan ko,” Sarah said.

(At first, I felt very uncomfortable and uneasy as our photos are always being taken, but being in the public eye makes it unavoidable. That’s why I understand.)

Sarah said, “Kasi hindi naman po natin madidiktahan ang future, kung ano ang mangyayari in the future.

(We cannot dictate the future, whatever happens in the future.)

“Bilang kami na magkarelasyon… Parang kahit nagkarelasyon na ako in the past, ito yung talagang legit, talagang nahahawakan ko, nayayakap ko.

(For this relationship…even if I was involved in a relationship in the past, this is the legit one, a relationship I can really touch, embrace.)

“So, I’m hoping na sana siya na ang huli. (I hope he will be my last.)

“Pero siyempre, nagdarasal pa rin tayo na kung ano ang will ng Diyos, ‘yon pa rin.” (But of course, we pray that God’s will be done.)  

Last June, Sarah confirmed that she and Matteo are officially together. The two were recently together during Matteo’s birthday party.
