SEOUL, South Korea – A popular member of South Korean boy band 2PM has been charged for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol after colliding with a motorcyclist early Tuesday, police said.

Nichkhun Horvejkul, 24, was found to have a blood-alcohol content marginally over the legal limit and could have his license suspended, a detective at Seoul’s Gangnam police station said.

The motorcyclist suffered bruises but no broken bones.

Nichkhun, a Thai-American, is a rapper, dancer and occasional support vocalist for the 6-member group, which is highly popular in Asia.

His agency JYP Entertainment issued a public apology over the incident and said the artist would cooperate with police.

Since making his debut on 2PM’s first album in 2008, Nichkhun has become one of South Korea’s most popular entertainers. He recently appeared in a Thai film entitled “Seven Something.”

In 2009, Nickhun was appointed goodwill ambassador of Thailand. Here is the campaign song of the Tourism Authority of Thailand from that year, performed by Nickhun.
