MANILA, Philippines – Grace VanderWaal is only 12 years old, yet the infamously acerbic Simon Cowell already foresees a great, bright future for the girl who walked on the America's Got Talent stage with a ukulele.
Strumming on the little ukulele, the girl treated everyone to an original song, "I Don't Know My Name."
"I think you are a living, beautiful, walking miracle," judge Howie Mandel spoke of her glowingly, later adding: "I think the world is gonna know your name."
Right then and there, the judge sends Grace straight to the next round with his golden buzzer.
"Grace, do you know what I predict for you? I think you are the next Taylor Swift," Simon said.
Later, after Grace was ushered off the stage, the judges are still all praises.
"Do you think we've got a star now?" asked Howie.
"I – hundred percent – think we've got a star. I really do. This girl is special. I'm now annoyed I didn't press the golden [buzzer]," replied Simon.
Earlier, before Grace performed, Simon asked if she believes she could win. "I mean, miracles can happen, so possibly…"
