MANILA, Philippines - It won’t be long before fans of the comic-hero-book packed film “Avengers” get to see what happens next in the story.
“Avengers” director Joss Whedon is already preparing to shoot the much-awaited sequel which, according to Screen Daily, will be filmed in Pinewood-Shepperton studios in the United Kingdom in early 2014.
This is the latest collaboration between the studios and Marvel. “Thor: The Dark World” recently finished shooting there while “Guardians of the Galaxy,” another Marvel movie about a superhero team, will start filming there this year.
Whedon returns to write and direct “The Avengers 2.” So far, his team has managed to keep details of the film’s plot under wraps. Many fans are hoping for the return of the “The Avengers” cast which include Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Chris Evans as Captain America and Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury.
The sequel will have big shoes to fill in terms of ticket sales when it is released in theaters on May 1, 2015. According to Screen Daily, the first movie grossed more than US$1.5 billion worldwide and is the 3rd biggest film to date behind “Avatar” and “Titanic.” – With reports from Pia Ranada/Rappler.com
