MANILA, Philippines – Comedian and TV host Vice Ganda said he is taking a break from the noontime variety show “Showtime,” due to throat complications.

In a Facebook status on July 15, Vice Ganda explained his condition, saying polyps were found in his vocal chords.

“Sorry guys you won’t see me muna in Showtime. The doc found polyps in my vocal chords. Di na nagsasara yung upper part coz its seriously damaged. The blood vessels are swollen and might collapse… Pag ‘di gumaling I will have to undergo surgery,” went his post.

The comedian also said in his post that he’s under medication and cannot talk for now.

“I’m trying steroids now and strictly no talk for the next days.” he said. “Ilang araw nang papel at ballpen ang katapat ko dahil kailangan kong isulat kung anong sasabihin ko.” (I’ve been having pen and paper with me because I need to write down what I want to say.)

Vice Ganda expressed confidence about his condition. “The Lord loves me. I’m not even bothered.”

He made the same update on Twitter:

The comedian leaves “Showtime” to the care of his co-hosts led by Anne Curtis, whom he jokes with on social media from time to time.

Curtis and the other “Showtime” co-hosts have expressed their best wishes.
