MANILA, Philippines – Andi Eigenmann is back on primetime television and she takes the lead in the TV version of “Galema: Anak ni Zuma.”

“Galema: Anak ni Zuma” is a komiks serial by Jim Fernandez, made into a movie in 1985 starring Snooky Serna as Galema and Max Laurel as Zuma.

Andi, who was last seen in the teleserye “Kahit Puso’y Masugatan,” with Iza Calzado and Gabby Concepcion, became Kapamilya’s prime-time star when she was launched in the series “Agua Bendita” in 2010.

Now she’s back with the unique role of a girl born with twin snakes.

“In ‘Agua Bendita,’ I have a twin sister. Dito sa ‘Galema,’ I have twin snakes,” Andi laughed.

“It’s a lot harder now because we shot so many scenes on location and there are more special effects.

“Instead of using live snakes, it’s all computer-generated.

“Though we use a few live ones, mas maraming ginagawa na lang [we did a lot ] through special effects.

“At least, wala pa kaming magiging [we won’t have] problems with PETA [People for the Ethical Treatments of Animals] and walang ma-endanger na snakes on the set.”

(There won’t be any endangering snakes on the set.)

Quality time

It took quite a while before Andi could start with a new serye. The 23-year-old celebrity mom who used to maintain a blog said she had been spending time with her daughter, Ellie.

“After I finished with ‘Kahit Puso’y Masugatan,’ I did the movie ‘Coming Soon.’

“It took over a month to finish because we had to shoot in different locations.

“I spend less time with my daughter na lagi kong iniiwan kay [who I always leave with] mommy [actress Jaclyn Jose].

“Then I started shooting na rin with ‘Momzillas’ for Viva Films. That took long din kaya [that’s why] after everything, I wanted to spend time with Ellie.

“We went on a trip abroad and bonded. Na-miss ko ang [I missed my] baby and ABS-CBN was nice enough to let me take a vacation before I started taping for ‘Galema.'”

“Galema: Anak ni Zuma” reunites her with “Agua Bendita” leading man Matteo Guidicelli.

“Matagal kaming hindi nagkatrabaho ni Matteo after ‘Agua Bendita.’ (Matteo and I haven’t worked for a long time after ‘Agua Bendita.’)

“Maraming nangyari sa aming pareho. [A lot has happened to both of us.] I had a baby and he broke up with Maja [Salvador].

“Now we’re together again and a lot has changed. Matteo is looking so good now, kesa noong magkasama kami sa [from the time we were together in] ‘Agua Bendita.'”

“Ako naman, I’ve lost weight na.” (As for me, I’ve lost weight.)

“Galema: Anak ni Zuma” is directed by Wenn Deramas and also stars Meg Imperial, Sunshine Cruz, Sheryl Cruz, Carlos Morales, Divina Valencia, Lito Legaspi, and Derick Hubalde as Zuma. –
