MANILA, Philippines – “Let’s Take a Chance,” the new film project starring Carla Abellana and Tom Rodriguez of “My Husband’s Lover” fame, failed to qualify at the Metro Manila Film Festival as a replacement entry for the aborted big-screen version of “Be Careful With My Heart.”

According to the festival’s rules, a replacement entry can only be selected from the films already submitted to the festival.

“Let’s Take a Chance” is a completely new project. Being officially out of the festival’s scope, the Carla-Tom movie will be shown in 2014.

Replacing “Be Careful” is the musical “Kaleidoscope World,” which stars Sef Cadayona, Yassi Pressman, Alma Concepcion, and Pia Pilapil. The iAct Productions film is a musical tribute to the late actor and rap artist Francis Magalona and titled after one of his famous songs.

“Let’s Take a Chance,” as Carla described this project with Tom, is a “love story with a little kilig.” It will be completely different, of course, from their soon-to-conclude hit serye with Dennis Trillo.

The three are also busy preparing for a concert version of “My Husband’s Lover,” to be held at the Smart Araneta the night following the show’s concluding episode on October 11.

Tom is also recording a duet album with Dennis titled “TomDen.” –
