Angel Locsin said on Sunday, September 12, that her father, Angelo Colmenares, has tested positive for COVID-19.
“It’s been a week of feeling helpless. Imaging having [COVID-19] at 94. Now imagine being blind in unfamiliar surroundings,” the actress said in an Instagram post, alongside a photo of her dad being taken inside an ambulance.
Angel added, “So many realizations during this pandemic. We all have our battles, but some definitely more than others.”
She then encouraged her followers to not lose hope in these trying times, “To the PWDs and everyone fighting their battles alone, kapit (hold on)! This too shall pass.”
Several celebrities like Judy Ann Santos, Dimples Romana, Bianca Gonzales, Bea Alonzo, and Marian Rivera left comments on Angel’s post, saying that they’re praying for her father’s speedy recovery.

“Dito lang kaming lahat praying with you, Mars (We’re all here praying beside you),” said Dimples.
Since the start of pandemic, Angel has been active in helping frontliners and thanking them on social media. In August 2020, she defended health workers after President Rodrigo Duterte lashed out at them over the continued rise in COVID-19 cases.
“Pagsuporta ang kailangan, hindi pagsindak. [COVID-19] po ang kalaban, hindi ang mamamayan (What they need is support and not threats. [COVID-19] is the enemy, not the people)” she said then.
On Friday, September 10, she again thanked the medical frontliners in an Instagram post.
“This crisis has made me realize that the world can work without politicians, businessmen, police, and even without actors like me. But the world can never work without health workers. Again, thank you for all that you do. Sending everyone strength, hope, and love,” she said.
