McDonald's Philippines will release the 'Behind The Sauce' video interview on YouTube on June 19

McDonald’s Philippines will release a behind-the-scenes interview with BTS on Saturday, June 19, two days after the nationwide launch of the limited edition BTS meal. The “Behind The Sauce” video, which was filmed during the shoot of the group’s meal ad, will premiere on McDonald’s Philippines’ YouTube channel.

During the interview, BTS members V, SUGA, Jin, Jimin, RM, Jungkook, and J-Hope were asked about their fondest memories associated with McDonald’s, as well as what the group is currently up to.

Jungkook: Well, we are singers so we always strive to produce great stage performances and great music, and right now, we are speaking to McDonald’s.

Kim Taehyung (V): Other than that, we’ve been recently working on some songs. We are producing tracks, prepping an album, and getting ready to approach ARMY with better music.

Q: When you think of McDonald’s, what do you think of?

Kim Seokjin: There was a McDonald’s about 10 minutes away from our dorm where we used to live before we debuted. It’s open 24 hours, so we would go there when we were hungry, and we’d ask each other, “How was your day?” McDonald’s is a place where we shared lots of memories.

Jungkook: I miss that.

Q: What’s your favorite band memory at McDonald’s?

Park Jimin: For me, I think of the memories from high school, and it took me two hours to get from home to the class. I had to take an express bus. And there was a McDonald’s at the express bus terminal. So I would always, always eat there, every day heading to my after school classes.

Min Yoon-gi (Suga): When I was young, there was a McDonald’s at a mall near where I used to live. And when you’re young, if your parents tell you to tag along to the mall, by saying they would get me McDonald’s French Fries, and then I would go.

Q: What has BTS been up to these days?

Kim Namjoon (RM): It truly means so much to have a meal named after us. We are super excited to share our go-to order with everyone. I can’t still believe that we have this purple packaging and our name on it. We truly have so many memories and connections, mentally or physically, so many connections with McDonald’s. We are so honored and happy, and we are lovin’ it.

Jung Ho-Seok (J-Hope): I’m so honored. In fact, I always really liked McDonald’s as a brand. You can get so many different types of hamburgers and so many Happy Meal toys. I am so proud and happy to collaborate with McDonald’s, a hamburger brand that I loved as a kid. And I am extremely happy to present our McDonald’s meal.

McDonald’s Philippines began selling the special BTS meal in stores for takeout, drive-thru, and delivery on Friday, June 18. In preparation for the high volume of orders, its management has implemented the MSafe program and coordinated with different barangays and local government units for the launch.

On June 12, McDonald’s Indonesia briefly shut down some outlets when the launch of the 10-piece chicken nugget meal in partnership with BTS sparked frenzied excitement and fears of coronavirus contagion.
