Dingdong Dantes gets sentimental on son Sixto’s swing ride

Dingdong Dantes turned sentimental on Sunday, February 21, as he shared photos on Instagram of his son Sixto’s first swing ride with his mom, actress Marian Rivera.

“I couldn’t help myself from documenting his first time to try a swing since he was born,” Dingdong wrote. “Wala pa kasi siyang one year old nung nagsimula ang lock down. At first, may takot pero dahil andiyan si Mama, he became comfortable, eventually.”

(He was not yet a year old when the lockdown started. At first, there was some fear but because mama is there, he became comfortable, eventually.)

“What a joy to see him explore playing in an open space and get his hands dirty and on the ground. Wala pa ring tatalo sa mga old school na laro na makakapag-hubog ng development ng isang bata (Nothing beats the old school of play, which develops a child’s skills). How I wish that we could go back to these outdoor activities, and have the opportunity for our children to freely play with other kids.”

Dingdong said that instead of comparing the past to what’s happening, parents should play an active role in creating a positive atmosphere and “experiences” for kids despite staying indoors due to the pandemic.

“All it takes is a little creativity and imagination, no matter how big or small our ‘better worlds’ are,” he said.

“Sabi nga ng HS titser kong si Ser Ron Capinding, ‘Lahat puwede, pero hindi lahat dapat.’ So, puwede naman talaga… pero dapat nang may pag-iingat, kapraningang calculated at isang buong loob na puno ng pagasa — na kaya pa rin nating ibigay ang mga nais at pangangailangan ng mga supling na walang kamuwangmuwang sa mas delikadong mundong kalalakihan nila.”
