Elliot Page, wife Emma Portner to divorce

Elliot Page and wife Emma Portner are divorcing after 3 years of marriage. The couple announced their decision on Tuesday, January 26, according to US media.

In a statement to CNN, Page said that “after much thought and careful consideration,” the two have made the “difficult decision” to divorce, following their separation in the summer of 2020.

“We have the utmost respect for each other and remain close friends,” the Juno and The Umbrella Academy actor added.

Page, 33, and professional dancer Portner, 26, married in June 2018 after they started dating in 2017. Their split comes two months after Page announced that he is a non-binary, transgender person in December 2020.

Portner expressed her support, pride, and love for Page on Instagram, saying that “trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world,” and that “Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself.”

Page uses both he/him and they/them pronouns. Non-binary means that their gender identity is neither man nor woman. – Rappler.com
