Five members of K-pop boy band ENHYPEN tested positive for COVID-19, the group’s management Belift Lab said on Thursday, September 2.

In a statement posted on WeVerse, Belift Lab said that members Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, and Sunghoon tested positive for the virus.

The group went into “preemptive self-quarantine” since Thursday, August 26, after coming in contact with a confirmed case on a production site.

While in quarantine, Jake was the first to experience symptoms, including cough and fever. He tested positive for the virus on August 30. On the same day, Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, and Sunghoon also started showing similar symptoms, and later tested positive as well.

“Following instructions from health authorities the necessary measures are being carried out, including assignment and relocation to treatment facilities,” Belift said, noting that those who are sick are experiencing “light symptoms.”

The company apologized “for causing concern to all fans” and also said that they will provide “full support” for the recovery of the members. They also said they will continue to cooperate with government health authorities.

As of September 2, South Korea counts a total of 255,401 COVID-19 cases, after 1,961 new cases were confirmed. – Rappler.com
