LOOK: Julia Barretto joins Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary

Actress Julia Barretto officially joined the ranks of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA), in a small ceremony at the PCG National Headquarters in Manila on Wednesday, September 1.

Julia holds the rank of auxiliary ensign under the PCG Auxiliary K9 Squadron. Her boyfriend, actor Gerald Anderson, joined Julia for her oath-taking. Gerald is an auxiliary lieutenant commander of the PCGA.

According to a PCG Facebook post, Julia was asked to speak on behalf of her fellow PCGA members who were sworn in that day.

“She thanked the PCG, especially the PCGA K9 Squadron, for welcoming her into the field of public service. In return, she pledged to actively support the initiatives of the unit towards the delivery of humble and compassionate service to the Filipino people,” the PCG said.

The PCGA is a non-government organization that “adheres to the Philippine Coast Guard’s customs and traditions.” Its structure is similar to that of the Philippine Coast Guard and it is composed of volunteers.

Both Julia and Gerald posted photos from the oath-taking on their Instagram feeds.
