‘Cory in the House’ star Kyle Massey charged with felony involving minor

Former Cory in the House and That’s So Raven star Kyle Massey has been charged with a felony involving a minor, with one count of immoral communication between him and an underage girl.

According to a Variety report, Kyle was charged on June 14. The involved party and her mother had already sued Massey in 2019 for $1.5 million for immoral communication with the 13-year-old girl from December 2018 to January 2019, as well as for “emotional damages.”

The Variety report said that the complainant claimed that the actor knew her family since she was four years old, and that she kept in touch Massey, who presented himself as her “father figure,” with the prospect of entering show business. Massey’s interactions with her increased following plans of a potential reboot of Cory in the House.  The actor later added the girl on Snapchat and started sending her sexually explicit photos, videos, and text messages.

In Kyle’s statement to TMZ, he claimed that he was being extorted by the family and denied the misconduct. The teen’s family decided to drop the lawsuit and instead filed a report with their local sheriff. 

Since the recent charge, the 29-year-old actor failed to show up at his arraignment. He also has not made any statement since.

Kyle rose to fame for his role as Cory Baxter in Disney’s famous sitcom That’s So Raven, which ran from 2003 to 2007. He starred in the spin-off series Cory In The House, which ran from 2007 to 2008.

In June 2021, fellow former children’s TV star Drake Bell from Drake and Josh was arrested for attempted child endangerment and disseminating matters harmful to minors. – with reports from Adrian Soriano/Rappler.com
