Singer Lani Misalucha has revealed that she is now using a hearing aid after becoming deaf in her right ear in October, due to bacterial meningitis.

Asia’s Nightingale unboxed and installed her new hearing aid in an Instagram video on Wednesday, January 13, after discussing the “souvenir” the life-threatening infection had given her and her husband Noli – hearing loss and vestibular dysfunction.

“Every single day mayroon kaming hilo sa ulo. ‘Yung konting movement ng head, ‘yung ganyan, super nakakahilo na ‘yan. Ako ang right ear ko ang bingi and ‘yung left ear ko ay medyo nakakarinig. Pero ang malala talaga na bingi is si Papa Nolz,” Lani said.

(We get dizzy every single day. One small movement of the head is enough to get us super dizzy. My right ear is deaf, but my left ear can still hear a bit. Papa Nolz’s deafness is worse).

Lani, 51, also thanked her fans for the continuous prayers, love, and support.

On Tuesday, January 12, Lani shared a selfie on Instagram, saying that her face and body gotten swollen due to the steroids she had to take for the inflammation of the nerves in her brain.

“Kaya pagpasensiyahan ‘nyo na ang first fekture of the year ko dito sa IG, bilang lumiit na nang konti ang mukeels ko. Sana naman, so far happy ang 2021 ‘nyo,” she wrote.

(So please bear with my first picture of the year on Instagram, since my face has gotten a bit smaller. I hope your 2021 is happy so far).

Lani first announced her diagnosis and hearing loss to the public during a Christmas special of GMA’s talent show The Clash, where she was a judge. She explained that her absence from the show was not due to COVID-19, but because of “something worse.” – Rappler.com
