Miss Universe Philippines contestant Maureen Wroblewitz on Saturday, September 4 to open up about her mental health, revealing that she’s been battling anxiety and depression. 

Sharing photos from Pangasinan, the model said that the short vacation was the break she needed for her mental health. “You only see what I post on social media but what I don’t show are the challenges I go through every day,” Maureen began her post. 

“I have realized that in this new journey of mine, I have been my worst competitor, I have always been. I pressure myself to improve but it only hurts me.” 

She added that it’s okay to feel sad, unmotivated, and unproductive, “We need to acknowledge what we are feeling and know that all our feelings are valid. A lesson I have learned the hard way.”

Maureen also said that she hadn’t been open about her mental health in the past because she was embarrassed but she has now realized the importance of speaking up. 

“To whoever needs to hear this right now, know that you are not battling this alone. I wish I knew that when I was suffering from depression and anxiety (I still do). I wish I knew that all my feelings are valid.” 

She ended her post by saying that being grateful and making peace with her past experiences have helped her alot. “I like to thank them for making me the person that I am today. The strong, kind and beautiful person that I am.” 

Fellow models Jodilly Pendre, Katarina Rodriguez, and Cindy Sirinya Bishop also left comments on Maureen’s post. “You are more than enough, Mau… Thank you for sharing this with us,” Jodilly wrote. 

In 2017, Maureen won the fifth season of Asia’s Next Top Model. She made her acting debut in the movie Runaway, which was released on September 3. Maureen is also among the top 30 candidates in the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 pageant.  – Rappler.com
