“The first few days were the hardest.... COVID is real” says Nikki

Nikki Valdez recently revealed that she and husband Luis Garcia got infected with COVID-19, and shared her concerns after recovering from the disease.

“Two weeks ago, my husband and I tested positive for COVID – a most dreaded situation not any one of us would want to be in. It was so painful, we both did not know how to react,” she said on Friday, April 9.

The 40-year-old actress shared that after getting the result, she was most worried for her mom, a senior citizen, and their daughter who lived with them.

Nikki said that the first days in isolation were the hardest. “There were days that we’re okay and days that I felt just blah…. Body aches, flu-like feeling 1000x worst (but temp was normal – weird!!!), mild dry cough, and 10 to 12 hours of sleep was not enough,” she wrote.

“COVID is more than a virus. It will toy not only with your physical health but mostly with your emotions…. COVID is real,” she said.

Nikki declared that their “agony has ended” and thanked her friends, family, and doctors who helped them throughout the whole ordeal.

“I would like to thank our monitoring doctors for a job well done! You are truly the whole world’s unsung heroes making sure that we get well,” she said.

Post-COVID worries

In her Instagram post on Monday, April 12, Nikki opened up about her worries on going back to work after recovering from COVID-19.

“I admittedly have been a bit hesitant, thinking if I could work without fear of getting sick again or if I could give my 101%,” she wrote.

The actress also asked her supporters for continued prayers. “Please say a prayer for us all who are out there in this battle doing everything to serve through the world that we do.”

Nikki’s Bagong Umaga co-star Heaven Peralejo revealed on Saturday, April 10, that she tested positive for COVID-19 during the locked-in taping for their series and had required hospital care. – Rappler.com
