Sam Milby came to the defense of his girlfriend, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, after malicious stories against the Filipino-Australian singer and beauty queen spread on social media.
On Twitter on Sunday, July 19, Sam said he cannot just watch and allow some people to keep spreading false stories about Catriona.
“I cannot simply stand by and allow other people to take control of a narrative that is not theirs to tell,” Sam wrote.
“Cat and I have chosen to keep our relationship mostly private. It was only until recently that we made an exception, to lend our voices to charitable causes,” he said referring to the new music video of Catriona’s song “We’re In This Together,” where he appeared as her backup guitarist.
“But that does not mean that there is truth to any of these false stories and fake news that people are creating to fill in the blanks. In fact, these wrongful accusations and defamatory lies are dangerous.”
The Filipino-American actor also said that keeping quiet does not mean one is guilty, saying it was their choice not to speak up about baseless reports.
“Cat is one of the kindest souls I’ve ever known. She is always putting other people first, thinking of how to use her voice and talent to help other people in need. Her grace, dignity, and strength even in the midst of all these false accusations makes me admire and love her even more,” he said.
“I will always be here for her and will do everything in my power to protect her.”
Catriona confirmed that she and Clint broke up back in 2019. In May, Sam confirmed that he and Catriona were dating.
Prior to Sam, Catriona’s lawyer Joji Alonso released a statement, saying that they are aware of allegations made against Catriona, including an alleged topless photo.
“It has come to our attention that an alleged topless photo of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray has been spreading online and a certain tabloid will be releasing it.
“We want to inform the public that the photo is fake and digitally altered.”
Joji said they have been in coordination with authorities to go after those who have been spreading fake news against Catriona.
“We strongly denounce this vicious attempt to tarnish the good name of Ms Gray.
“At a time when fake news is prevalent, we firmly urge the public to be discerning and critical of what they see and share on social media.”
