Sanya Lopez replaces Marian Rivera in ‘First Yaya’

GMA actress Sanya Lopez has been tapped to replace Marian Rivera in the upcoming show First Yaya.

The news was officially announced on Monday, October 12 on 24 Oras.

“S’yempre po kabado and excited dahil alam ko na malaki yung ini-expect nila sa akin bilang iyong First Yaya,” she said.

(Of course, I was nervous and excited because I know the expectations are huge as First Yaya.)

“First ko na mabigyan ng primetime na ako po yung title role. Kaya naman maraming marami salamat po ng sobra sobra sa GMA.”

(It’s my first title role for a primetime show. So I’m very thankful for GMA.)

The actress is currently preparing for her role as Yaya Melody. She is set to star alongside Gabby Concepcion, who plays the president in the show.

Sanya, who was discovered by the late German “Kuya Germs” Moreno, rose to fame for her role as Sang’gre Danaya in the 2016 version of Encantadia. She also starred in shows such as Haplos and Cain at Abel.

Marian announced last month that she was backing out of the show as she cannot afford to be away that long from her children Zia and Sixto due to lock-in taping rules.

First Yaya was announced as part of the lineup of GMA’s new shows in celebration of the network’s 70th anniversary. – Rappler.com
