FKA Twigs accuses ex-boyfriend Shia of emotionally and physically abusing her throughout their relationship

Singer-songwriter Sia threw her support behind fellow musician FKA Twigs, describing actor Shia LaBeouf as someone who “conned [her] into an adulterous relationship.”

FKA Twigs, also known as Tahliah Debrett Barnett, sued ex-boyfriend Shia for damages, accusing him of emotionally and physically abusing her throughout their relationship.

On December 13, Sia tweeted an article about the lawsuit, saying “I too have been hurt emotionally by Shia, a pathological liar who conned me into an adulterous relationship claiming to be single.”

“I believe he’s very sick and have compassion for him AND his victims. Just know, if you love yourself – stay safe, stay away,” the Chandelier singer wrote.

In a following tweet, she said “I love you [FKA Twigs].”

“This is very courageous and I’m very proud of you,” Sia said.

The lawsuit, filed by FKA Twigs on December 1 at a Los Angeles Superior Court, detailed incidents of Shia’s alleged abuse of the British singer, including him supposedly giving her a sexually transmitted disease knowingly.

On her own Instagram account on December 12, FKA Twigs spoke about why she came forward, saying that she never thought something like this would happen to her, and that when someone is being controlled by an abuser or is in a violent relationship with an intimate partner, “leaving doesn’t feel like a safe or achievable option.”

“I hope that by sharing my experience i can truly help others feel like they are not alone and shed some light on how those who are worried somebody they care about may be in an abusive relationship can help because i understand it can be confusing and hard to know what to do,” she added.

She went on to highlight how shocking the statistics on domestic abuse are, and shared her anxiety knowing that many victims are trapped with their abusers during the pandemic.

“My second worst nightmare is being forced to share with the world that i am a survivor of domestic violence…My first worst nightmare is not telling anyone and knowing that i could have helped even just one person by sharing my story,” she said.

She then shared several charities and organizations that support victims of domestic abuse.

Stylist Karolyn Pho, another ex-girlfriend of Shia, was also named in the lawsuit, with her claiming that she was also physically abused by Shia while he was drunk. – Rappler.com
