South Korean actress Kim Min-kyung died at the age of 61, her agency DaHong Entertainment confirmed on Tuesday, August 17.
According to DaHong Entertainment’s statement, Min-kyung passed away in a Seoul hospital. Her funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, August 18. The agency did not disclose her cause of death.
The veteran star made her acting debut in theater in 1979 and received the Best Newcomer Award in 1981 by the Korean Theater Festival. Since then, Min-kyung has appeared in several film, theater, and TV projects throughout her 40 years in the business.
Min-kyung’s movies include Someone Behind You, Where The Truth Lies, Tazza, and Microhabitat, while her television drama stints include The Flower in Prison, Nobody Knows, VIP, The Moon Embracing the Sun, When the Camellia Blooms, and more.
Min-kyung’s latest roles were in 2021’s drama series A Good Supper, Become Rice, thriller series Mouse, starring Lee Seung-gi, and crime-action film Pipeline. Two of her last upcoming films, Spiritwalker and 1947 Boston, have yet to premiere. – Rappler.com
