Sunshine Cruz calls out Facebook pages for editing photos of her family

Sunshine Cruz on Tuesday, May 11 called out several Facebook pages who posted an edited photo of her family that made it look like they were posing with a porn actor. 

“I will never understand why people think making fun of other people is funny. No one has the right to humiliate others. What would you feel kung isa sa pamilya nyo ang gawing katatawanan? (What would you feel if one of your family members were made fun of?),” she wrote. 

The actress also lamented that their family did not deserve the disrespect. “It only shows the character na meron ang isang tao. Hindi ako humihingi ng respeto pero itrato niyo lang din akong tao. Pareho niyo nasasaktan din ako. Walang ginagawang masama ang pamilya ko kahit kanino,” she continued. 

(It only shows one’s character. I’m not asking you to respect me, but please just treat me like a human. I get offended, too. My family is not hurting anyone.) 

In a separate post, Sunshine asked her friends and followers on the platform to report several Facebook pages that posted the edited photo. 

“Sa mga hindi aware, Macky’s face was edited. Binago at ginawang porn actor. (For those who are not aware, Macky’s face was edited. It was replaced by a porn actor). The comments as you can see are disgusting. Let’s not tolerate this kind of behavior here on Facebook,” she said. 

“Sadly, it is so easy for others to say nasty things on social media. Which reveals the person they are. They must’ve forgotten na may mga babae din silang kapamilya (they have relatives who are ladies, too).” Sunshine concluded in her post. 

On Thursday, May 13, the actress thanked those who reported the Facebook pages. “May mga nag-message at apologize na sa pag-repost ng edited picture ng pamilya ko (Some messaged and apologized to me already for reposting that edited photo). I hope this serves as a lesson to other guys out there. May nanay, asawa, kapatid o mga kamag-anakan kayong mga babae. (You have a mom, a wife, a sister and relatives who are women),” she wrote.

“Let’s not forget that. Do not ever justify your wrongdoing and disrespect because of who or what I am.”

This is not the first time that Sunshine slammed netizens who sexualized and objectified her family online. In July 2020, the actress cried foul over her daughter’s harassers.  “Anong satisfaction ang nakukuha nyo sa pambabastos nyo sa amin (what satisfaction do you get from harassing us)?” she said. 

Sunshine has three daughters with former husband Cesar Montana. Samantha and Francheska are both minors, while her eldest Angelina is 19 years old. – Rappler.com
