Sunshine signs with ABS-CBN after over two decades as a GMA talent

Veteran actress Sunshine Dizon recently signed with ABS-CBN

She is set to star in the upcoming teleserye Marry Me, Marry You alongside Paulo Avelino and Janine Gutierrez.

Sunshine was previously signed with ABS-CBN’s rival network GMA-7, where she was a talent for 25 years and performed iconic roles in shows such as Ikaw Lang ang Mamahalin, Kung Mawawala Ka, Encantadia, and Ika-6 na Utos.

Sunshine said that her transfer to ABS-CBN was something she felt she “needed to do,” even as the network has been without a congressional franchise for almost a year.

“To be honest, I’ve only had a very simple prayer with regards to my career. I’ve always asked the lord to plant me where I will bloom, and in all the seasons of my life, I’ve trusted his will. So when this opportunity came, I just knew in my heart na ito na ‘yung bagong phase (that this is the new phase),” she said at an online press conference on Friday, April 30.

“I am old and hopefully wise enough to know and understand that the only constant thing in life is change, so whatever will propel you forward, I’m all for that,” she said.

She also said that before getting the offer from ABS-CBN, she had already heard a lot of good things about the network’s content production unit Dreamscape Entertainment, and its head Deo Endrinal.

“When my manager said that there’s an offer from Dreamscape, from Sir Deo, I just knew in my heart that it was meant to be. And in this season in my life and career, I needed to do this,” she said.

In Marry Me, Marry You, Sunshine will be acting alongside Cherry Pie Picache and Vina Morales – two stars that Sunshine had long been wanting to work with. She also said that she has always wanted to work with Piolo Pascual, John Lloyd Cruz, Angelica Panganiban, and Ketchup Eusebio.

She said that her transfer to ABS-CBN meant “a new season in my life, a new chapter in my career.”

“I’m just very excited and I look forward to working with Kapamilya and also looking forward to this project of ours now Marry Me, Marry You,” she said.
