Will Smith to release autobiography in November

Will Smith is ready to share his life story through his first memoir titled Will, set to be released in November.

Smith announced the title and cover of his upcoming biography in an Instagram post on Saturday, June 19. The book will be published by Penguin Press.

“It’s been a labor of love. I’ve been working on it for the past two years and it is finally ready,” Smith said, using a cartoon filter.

The book’s cover was designed by New Orleans-based visual artist Brandan “BMike” Odums and features five layers that represent different stages in Smith’s life. 

Smith wrote Will in collaboration with Mark Manson, the author of the bestselling self-help book The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck. 

First teased in a July 2018 video, the book will take readers into the life of the 52-year-old actor, from how he started as a “fearful child in a tense West Philadelphia home to one of the biggest rap stars of his era and then one of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood history.”

Penguin Press described Will as a “brave and inspiring book that traces his learning curve to a place where outer success, inner happiness, and human connection are aligned.”

Smith began as a rapper and first rose to fame when he starred in the 1990 sitcom, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, where he played a fictionalized version of himself. He then went on to star in numerous blockbuster films such as Independence Day, Hancock, and Men in Black. 

His has been nominated for five Golden Globe Awards and two Academy Awards and won four Grammy Awards for his music. – John Patrick Magno Ranara/Rappler.com
