Jazz singer Jacqui Magno dies at 65

MANILA, Philippines – Renowned jazz icon Jacqui Magno died at the age of 65 on Friday afternoon, June 21, at the UERM (University of the East Ramon Magsaysay) Memorial Hospital, according to a Pep.ph report.

Jacqui had suffered from pancreatic cancer. 

Vivian Velez, a close friend of the musician, shared her condolences on Facebook. 



Dudee Alfonso, music promoter and close friend of Jacqui, also confirmed the news to Inquirer.net. 


Anna Ylagan, Jacqui’s artist manager, changed her profile photo at around 5pm to a picture with Jacqui, followed by numerous comments by people expressing their condolences.



Fellow singers such as Lea Salonga and Richard Merk also took to Facebook to share their grief over the sudden loss of a good friend.


Jacqui’s musical career began when she became a singer for the Genesis Band. Her claim to fame was being a part of The Circus Band, along with Basil Valdez, Hajji Alejandro, Tillie Moreno, and Pat Castillo in the 1970s. – Rappler.com
