MANILA, Philippines – GMA Network on Wednesday, June 26, defended its new series, "My Husband's Lover," after the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) questioned the show's homosexual themes.

In a statement issued by Butch Raquel, the network's consultant for corporate communications, GMA-7 said it welcomes the CBCP's scrutiny. The network, however, said: "We believe that our program, while tackling sensitive real-life situations, is produced with utmost prudence and in good taste."

GMA-7 said it will continue complying with the standards for the show's "strict parental guidance" (SPG) rating.

The network also thanked supporters who engage in heated discussions over the program.

"The Kapuso Network is pleased with the high ratings that ‘My Husband’s Lover’ has achieved in its first two weeks, and would like to assure the Filipino audience that we will continue to produce relevant and entertaining programs," GMA-7 added.

Recently, the CBCP said it was alarmed at the show's sensitive themes, and reminded networks to consider morality in their various series.

The show's supporters, on the other hand, blasted the CBCP.
