Jennylyn Mercado, Jericho Rosales on winning top acting awards in MMFF 2015

MANILA, Philippines – It was the best Christmas gift for actress Jennylyn Mercado, who took home for the second straight year the Best Actress award for her performance in the movie, Walang Forever, Sunday, December 27, at the Kia Theatre. (FULL LIST: Winners, MMFF 2015 awards night)

In an interview with reporters after the program, Jennylyn looked stunned as she was asked what she felt after getting the award.  Aside from winning the Best Actress award, Jennylyn was also awarded the Female Celebrity of the Night. "Thank you Lord, Thank you Lord. Sobrang gandang Chrsitmas gift para sa akin. Itong taon talaga, napakaraming blessings and sobrang thankful ako sa lahat nang mga nangyayariSa lahat ng mga sumusuporta, sa mga fans, maraming salamat," Jennylyn said.

(This is a beautiful Christmas gift for me. This year has been full of so many blessings and I'm so thankful for what has happened. To those who continue to support me, to the fans, thank you.)

Jennylyn said that she is looking forward to a meaningful 2016. She also expressed her happiness for co-star Jericho Rosales, who won the Best Actor award.

"Sobrang happy ako for Echo. He deserves it, sobra. Sobra siyang deserving  na manalo siya na Best Actor. I feel so blessed and sobrang nanginginig pa rin ako hanggang ngayon hindi ko alam kung anong sasabihin."

(I'm so happy for Echo. He deserves it so much. He really deserves to win the Best Actor award. I feel so blessed and I'm still in shock up to now. I don't know what to say right now.)

Jericho, who is in Australia for a vacation with wife Kim Jones, took to Twitter to thank everyone for the award. He also congratulated the whole cast.

Aside from winning the top acting awards, Walang Forever also won Best Picture, Best Screenplay, and Best Original Story. It was also the recipient of the FPJ Memorial Award for Film Excellence. – Rappler.com
