Actor Jimboy Salazar dies at 42

MANILA, Philippines – Actor and singer Jimboy Salazar died on Friday, July 24, confirmed his mother, Delia Sta. Maria. 

Salazar was rushed to an emergency room at a hospital in San Miguel, Bulacan on July 24 because he was having difficulty breathing. He was pronounced dead on arrival.

Salazar was sick with pneumonia weeks before his death. After his recovery, Salazar complained of a sharp pain and had difficulty speaking. He spent his last days trying to recover fully at his mother’s home in Bulacan. 

Salazar was a member of the GMA show That’s Entertainment in the 90s, when he dated the comedian Mahal. 

That’s Entertainment host German Moreno, also known as Kuya Germs, gave a message to Salazar on Startalk on July 25 regarding Salazar’s death. “Nung nabalitaan ko na may karamdaman, ganon, at nangangayayat ka, nalulungkot ako.” (When I heard you weren’t well and you were losing weight, I felt sad.) He also prayed that the Lord would welcome Jimboy into his Kingdom. 

Mahal, who found out about Salazar’s death through Facebook, also gave a tearful message on the show. “Salamat sa pag-aalaga mo and sa pagpapadala mo ng pasalubong.” (Thank you for taking care of me and for the gifts you gave me.) Mahal had hoped to visit Jimboy before his death. – Rappler.com
