MANILA, Philippines – Former child actor Jiro Manio’s live-in partner denied that she was the cause of his current condition, and shed some light about the troubled star's life in recent years.
In an interview aired on Rated K Sunday, July 5, 20-year-old Reijine said that when she and Jiro got together, he was nice in the beginning, but afterwards started showing signs that he was temperamental.
"Nung first month kasi mabait, may effort.
(The first month, he was nice, made some effort. And then after he would just easily get angry. He would also hurt physically. We went to see his friend and it was his group that he used to indulge in vices with. I saw that he was holding something...and I told him not to, but he was the one who got mad at me.)
Reijine also said that she and the family were the ones who encouraged Jiro to go to rehab for the second time and that she was surprised when comments online blamed her for his current state.
(That's social media and they will talk and talk. They said that after I got Jiro's money, I just left him. I personally helped him and helped when we decided to take him to rehab again.)
(I just want to clear that I did not know he was there [NAIA 3]. When we met he was not really himself, because my family personally helped them.)
Meanwhile Andrew Manio, Jiro's foster father, said that he was very patient with him despite the times that they fought. Andrew said that he and Jiro argued when Jiro decided to leave their home.
(I have really exercised patience with Jiro despite him cursing me. I just ignore it because I know he was already having problems. But that night, I guess I was not just myself...he was just hanging out in the bakery and then suddenly he left.)
Despite Jiro's problems, Andrew said he is hoping for him to get well.
(I never abandoned Jiro. Many people can attest to that, how I raised him. I love Jiro even if he's not my biological son.)
Jiro first rose to fame via the movie Magnifico directed by Maryo J. de los Reyes. He's also starred in a number of movies and TV shows.
Jiro is currently staying with his teacher somewhere in Mandaluyong after his brother Anjo Santos picked him up from the airport last week, according to reports. – Rappler.com
