[WATCH] Rappler Live Jam: Zion Aquino

MANILA, Philippines – Zion Aquino is bringing his smooth R&B sound to Rappler HQ!

The singer-songwriter has been into music since he was young, having been exposed to it through his dad who played the guitar and sang. He then went on to wow audiences as he entered and won singing competitions, including Star World’s Filipino American Idol in 2005 and McDonald’s and MTV’s Next Big Thing search for the R&B Superstar in 2007. 

His breakout year was in 2017, when he took home a slew of awards at the 30th Awit Awards: Best Ballad Recording, Best R&B Recording, and Best New Male Artist.

A cancer survivor, Zion’s music has been especially inspirational. In 2015, he collaborated with pop star Yeng Constantino on “Liwanag,” a song inspired by his battle with the disease. The song was used to raise funds for two kids who were fighting bone marrow disease.
