[WATCH] Rappler Live Jam: Jay R, Jason Dy, and Jaya
MANILA, Philippines – Rappler Live Jam is going smooth and soulful with a set by 3 of the country’s top R&B and Soul artists: Jay R, Jason Dy, and Jaya.
Jay R, known as the local “King of R&B,” has been in the scene since the early 2000s, debuting with his album Gameface, which contained the hit song “Bakit Pa Ba?” Jay R counts several awards to his name, including Song of the Year at the Awit Awards in 2004, R&B Artist of the Year at the Philippines Hip-Hop Music Awards in 2008, and Favorite Song at the MYX Music Awards in 2010.
These days, he runs a management and recording company Homeworkz. He released his latest album Kamusta Ka earlier in the year, with the latest track, “Habang Buhay” featuring Kris Lawrence and Billy Crawford.
Jason is a rising R&B star, who got his break after winning the second season of the Voice of the Philippines. Since then, Jason has produced hits like "Caught In That Feeling," "Milagro," and "Walang Iwanan,” and was named the Favorite New Artist Award at the MYX Music Awards in 2016.
Jaya is a Philippine music icon who has become known for hits like "Wala Na Bang Pag-Ibig," "Laging Naroon Ka," "Kung Wala Na," and ”Sometimes You Just Know.” A 7-time platinum recording artist, Jaya bagged numerous awards including the Platinum Stallion Media Awards in 2017, the Awit Award for Best Performance by a Female Recording Artist in 2012, Awit Award for Best Performance by a Female Recording Artist in 1998, and the Grand Prize and Best interpreter in Asia's Song Festival in Hong Kong in 1998 for the song "You Lift Me Up.” She is set to release an album under Star Music with the carrier single “Hanggang Dito Na Lang” written by Rox Santos, a sophomore single by Yeng Constantino, and more exciting tracks by some of the top musicians in the country.
The three artists are performing in a concert, Soulja, on August 30 at Resorts World Manila’s Newport Performing Arts Theater.
