[WATCH] Rappler Live Jam: Jesse McCartney
MANILA, Philippines – If you were around in the early 2000s, chances are you know Jesse McCartney. If your adolescent years took place in the early 2000s, chances are you not only know Jesse McCartney, but pretended that his hit single “Beautiful Soul” was actually written for you.
If that was you, then you may want to tune in to Rappler Live Jam on July 12, Friday, as this early-noughts icon visits HQ to talk about his music and perform one of his songs.
His Live Jam appearance comes right before his Manila concert at the New Frontier Theater in Cubao, Quezon City on July 13. It will be Jesse’s first time to perform in Manila.
Aside from the aforementioned hit song "Beautiful Soul" – which has arguably become a sort of anthem for teen love – Jesse is also known for songs such as "She's No You," "Leavin,'" "Just So You Know," and "How Do You Sleep," as well as for co-writing another 2000s-era anthem, "Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis.
Initially rising to fame as an actor on the long-running soap All My Children and as a member of the boy band Dream Street, Jesse has released 5 studio albums since his debut as a solo artist in 2004 with the album Beautiful Soul.
He released his newest single, "Better With You," in March 2018, almost 4 years after the release of his most recent album In Technicolor in 2014.
He released another single, "Wasted" in January 2019, along with a hilarious music video that parodies a soap opera and sees Jesse play 4 different characters – including a hip-thrusting playboy and a chain-smoking, hard drinking middle-aged woman.
Following the release of his two new songs, Jesse is planning to drop even more new music in 2019.
