A new ‘AlDub’ movie is on the way

MANILA, Philippines – After appearing in last year’s hit My Bebe Love starring Vic Sotto and Ai-Ai delas Alas, the tandem of Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards or AlDub will be starring in a new movie together, coming soon.

The announcement was made on Saturday, April 16 by Lolas Nidora and Tinidora (played by Wally Bayola and Jose Manalo) during Eat Bulaga‘s kalyeserye. The two were presented a pink wrapped box. Inside was a movie clapper with their names on it.

“Meng, Alden, nakita niyo no. Ito na ang panahon para sa hinihintay ng marami. Ito na ang panahon para magkaroon kayo ng sarili ninyong pelikula,” Nidora said.

(Meng, Alden, you saw it. This is the moment everyone has been waiting for. This is the perfect time for both of you to have your own movie.)

Both looked surprised but are also happy over the announcement.

“Simula nung nagsimula po ang AlDub, ang dami na pong nangyari sa buhay namin ni Alden lalo na po sa akin, Lola,” Maine said.

(When AlDub started, so many things have happened in our lives, especially in mine.) 

“First time ko po lahat ng ginagawa dito ay lahat puro una. Kaya yung iba po nagmamadali, pinepressure po tayo – ako po, yung may hawak sa akin na sana gawin ko ito, gawin ko iyan. Pero alam naman ninyo lola na hindi ko kaya pagsabayin-sabayin lahat diba? Na lahat naman po ng bagay, na lahat ng tatahakin ko po dito may tamang panahon,” she added.

(It’s my first time to do all these things. Some rushed or pressured me or our team to do this and that. But you know lola that I cannot do everything all at the same time right? That everything that I will go through – my journey, has a perfect timing.)

Maine then thanked everyone including the AlDub fans for their support and for their patience.

“Dream come true po ito para sa amin ni Alden. Promise na gagalingan po namin,” Maine assured their followers.

(This is a dream come true for me and Alden. We promise to all of you that we will do our best.)

Alden recalled the journey he and Maine went through before becoming the popular tandem they are today. 

“Marami po kaming pinagdadaanan at patuloy na pinagdadaanan lola sa araw-araw.  And masarap lang po talaga at the end of the day, is makakita nang mga nagmamahal sa inyo katulad ng mga nandito sa studio,” Alden said pointing to the audience.

(We’ve been through a lot and we continue to go through so many challenges everyday, lola. And it just feels good that at the end of the day, you’ll see those who love you just like the people in in the studio.)

“Sa lahat ho ng nanghihintay, sa lahat po na minsan nagdududa sa amin ni Maine, at sa lahat na po na hindi na magkapaghintay, ito na po excited na po kami ni Maine na gawin po itong proyektong ito para sa lahat po ng sumusoporta at nagmamahal sa amin,” he said.

(To those who have waited, to those who have doubte me and Maine and to those who cannot wait for this project, Maine and I are excited to do this project for those who have supported us and loved us from the start.)

Alden then told Maine that he cannot wait to do the project and said “let’s prove them wrong.” He later hugged her in front of everyone.

Nidora then greeted the two and told them: “Alden, alagaan mo itong apo namin sa pupuntahan ninyong mga lokasyon (take care of our granddaughter when you go to the movie locations),” reminding them to be professional with their upcoming movie.  Other details of the movie have yet to be announced.
