MANILA, Philippines  This May, the King of Monsters is back on the big screen in Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ upcoming spectacle Godzilla.

The recently released trailer features impressive special effects, intriguing plot reveals, and a grim voiceover by Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad). It appears to have all the elements of a summer blockbuster hit, but is that enough to draw in the crowds?

Gareth Edwards directs the Max Borenstein reimagining of the iconic character.

Godzilla has been portrayed as everything from the outright villain in the ’50s films, to the unsung hero in the ’70s and ’80s adaptations. Edwards’ vision of Godzilla is that he is the “anti-hero” of the film, as he clashes with other incredible forces of nature that wreak havoc and threaten the existence of mankind.

The film has been promoted heavily at pop culture institutions such as the San Diego Comic-Con 2013, where the “Godzilla Encounter,” a special exhibit-cum-theme park attraction was set up, reported IGN.The attraction, designed to simulate a “Godzilla attack,” generated hype for the movie.

Godzilla features an all-star cast of Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass), Oscar nominee Ken Watanabe (The Last Samurai, Inception), Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene), Oscar winner Juliette Binoche (The English Patient), and Sally Hawkins (Blue Jasmine), with Oscar nominee David Strathairn (The Bourne Legacy) and Bryan Cranston (Argo, TV’s Breaking Bad). – Rappler.com
