Harry Potter spinoff to hit cinemas in 2016
'Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them' – something to look forward to for Potterheads everywhere

MANILA, Philippines – Harry Potter fans, it’s time to mark your calendars! Warner Bros. has set November 18, 2016 as the premiere date of Potter franchise spinoff, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”

Variety reported that JK Rowling will be making her screenwriting debut for the new film. Rowling penned the short book of the same title, on which the film is based, published in 2001.

Inspired by the Hogwarts textbook mentioned in the first Potter novel, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Fantastic Beasts is credited under the name of fictional “magizoologist” Newt Scamander.

In the Potter novels, Fantastic Beasts is known as an encyclopedia-type textbook which contains the history of Magizoology and write-ups on 75 magical species.

The “Fantastic Beasts” film is set to follow the adventures of Newt Scamander in his pursuit of magical creatures in the Wizarding World. It is hoped that the 2016 film will be the first in a successful new film series.

The same Variety report mentioned that the film will be an extension of the Wizarding World, acting as neither a prequel nor a sequel to the original Potter films. The context of the film will be set in New York, 7 decades before the Harry’s story takes place.

As of now, no director, producers or cast members have yet to be announced.
