Sam Wilson is back for 'Captain America 4,' which will be written by 'Falcon and The Winter Soldier' writer Malcolm Spellman

Anthony Mackie, known for playing Avenger Sam Wilson a.k.a. the Falcon, has closed a deal to star in Marvel Studios’ upcoming film Captain America 4.

According to Deadline, the film will be written by Malcolm Spellman, who served as head writer for the Disney+ 2021 series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Spellman will be working with series staff writer Dalan Musson.

The film’s director, release date, and official cast have yet to be announced.

Marvel Studios has yet to comment on the Deadline report.

News that Captain America 4 was in development was first reported on in April by The Hollywood Reporter.

Mackie made his first appearance as Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, followed by Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, where Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans, handed his Captain America shield to Wilson, who has assumed the mantle since then.

Mackie starred in the six-episode The Falcon and The Winter Soldier series alongside Sebastian Stan, who played Bucky Barnes, also known as The Winter Soldier. – Rappler.com
