Zack Snyder's upcoming zombie film is set to be released on Netflix in 2021

Army of the Dead, the upcoming zombie film by Dawn of the Dead director Zack Snyder, has yet to be released but it’s already spawned a prequel and an anime series.

Army of the Dead, whose cast includes Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana De La Reguera, Theo Rossi, Huma Qureshi, Omari Hardwick, Tig Notaro, Hiroyuki Sanada, Garret Dillahunt, Matthias Schweighöfer, Raúl Castillo, Nora Arnezeder, and Samantha Win, will be released on Netflix in 2021.

The film follows a group of mercenaries into a zombie-infested Las Vegas, Nevada as they try to pull off a complicated heist.

The film’s spin-off projects will be penned by its writer Shay Hatten.

The as yet untitled prequel will be directed by Grimme Award winner Matthias Schweighöfer, who will also star in it as his character Ludwig Dieter.

The anime series, Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, will tell the origin story of Army of the Dead character Scott (Bautista) as he confronts the mysterious source of the zombie outbreak with his rescue crew.

Snyder will direct two episodes of the anime series. Jay Oliva will be showrunning as well as directing two episodes of the series. Oliva is the executive producer of the upcoming anime Trese based on the Filipino comic book of the same name.
