‘BLACKPINK: The Movie’ to be released in August

Korean girl group BLACKPINK is releasing the film BLACKPINK: The Movie to mark their fifth anniversary. They released the poster for the film on their Instagram on June 21.

According to a Soompi report, YG Entertainment confirmed the news on Wednesday, June 16. The film will feature five songs from their virtual concert The Show and In Your Area world tour “to give the audience a vivid experience” of being in a real concert hall.

Additionally, BLACKPINK: The Movie will include various sequences like “The Room of Memory,” where the girls reminisce their five-year history since debut, “Beauty,” which will focus on the members’ personalities and “Unreleased Special Interview” for the fans.

BLACKPINK: The Movie is also reported to be screened in more than 100 countries worldwide this August.

The upcoming film is part of BLACKPINK’s “4+1 project” where they’ll hold several activities to celebrate the girl group’s fifth debut anniversary.

BLACKPINK, composed of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, released their debut album, The Album, in October 2020. Rosé recently made her debut as a solo artist with R last March 2021.

The girl group will hold a virtual fan meet for Filipino BLINKs on June 18. – Rappler.com
